Presenting: Beatriz is 'Betty from Nowhere'

Hello everyone!
Today I bring you a very special post, because it won't be about me, it will be all about my dear friend Beatriz Bajuelos, one of the most amazing persons I know.
Beatriz, or Betty as we call her, and I have know each other for seven years now and have been the best of friends; she has always been there for me, we understand each other so well, and honestly, I don't know what I would do without her, or without any of my other girls, they are the best!
So I have this little group of girlfriends and we have been friend for many, many years, we are like a family, and even during college, with each one of us in a different city, and some in different countries, we manged to stay in touch daily and see each other every time we could and managed to stay really close even with the distance! :)
Funny thing about our little group, each one of us is very different and unique, we have different tastes and views in many points, but we have grown up with each other and I really think that we molded on to each other, so I feel that parts of me that weren't there before came from each one of them.

But back to Betty for now. So, she's a russian-born cuban raised in Portugal, a true citizen of the world, who has lived in different countries,  and lived in my city for 10 years, that's when I knew her. At 18 she went to college in Madrid, and studied Film & Television and Journalism, a double major that contains all that she's passionate about. But she didn't stop there, she went on three exchange programs, one in Estonia and two in California (she's the real cosmopolitan!)
She is also an excellent photographer, and all that she knows about photography she learned on her own through the years, so she has even more merit.
For the past two years that she's been living in California, she was really missed by all of us and we were so happy that she managed to go and visit us to our hometown! We had the most amazing days. Our group reunited (almost, Inês was missing!) and it was so great to be together after two years apart from her! :)

So, in those days Betty photographed some moments and I have been preparing a special post to share with you some of her wonderful photos and some more from her portfolio. And the reason I'm posting it today is because yesterday she had her final presentation in Madrid and now she is officially graduated! After five long years of college, of living in three different countries, and after millions of adventures and photos to show it, Beatriz has now finished this big journey, and I'm so proud to have witnessed every step of the way, and I wish her all the luck in the next big step! You can do it, Betty!

Also, and not least, I also want to congratulate Beatriz Ferreira, another great friend of mine, who has just finished yesterday her thesis and she worked really, really hard for it! I wish her as well all the luck in the next step, I know she is destined for great things and she will conquer them!

Hoje trago-vos um post muito especial porque não será sobre mim, mas sim de uma grande amiga, a Beatriz Bajuelos, uma das pessoas mais fantásticas que conheço.

A Beatriz, ou Betty para nós, e eu conhecemo-nos e somos grandes amigas há sete anos, ela foi sempre o meu grande apoio, entendemo-nos perfeitamente e, muito sinceramente, não sei o que seria de mim sem ela, ou sem qualquer outra das minhas amigas, elas são fantásticas!

Então, acho que já vos tinha comentado anteriormente que tenho o mesmo grupinho de amigas há já muitos, muitos anos, somos como uma família, quase desde sempre, e mesmo durante a universidade, onde cada uma estava numa cidade, e algumas até num país, diferentes, conseguimos continuar em contacto diário e vemo-nos sempre que podemos. Tenho muita sorte de as ter e de termos conseguido continuar tão próximas mesmo com a distância.

Um detalhe engraçado sobre o nosso grupo, cada uma de nós é muito diferente e única, temos gostos e pontos de vista diferentes em muitas coisas, mas eu acho que o que nos une mais é termos crescido juntas e moldámo-nos umas às outras. Eu sinto que tenho partes de mim que mudaram graças a elas, tenho um bocadinho de cada uma delas em mim e isso é algo que nunca mudará.

Mas voltando à Betty, porque este post é para ela. Ela é cubana, nascida na Russia e cresceu em Portugal, é uma verdadeira cidadã do mundo, que já viveu em diferentes países, mas no qual passou mais tempo até agora foi em Portugal, onde esteve 10 anos, e foi onde a conheci, em 2006. Aos 18 anos mudou-se para Madrid para estudar Jornalismo & Comunicação Audiovisual, um duplo curso que contém tudo aquilo que a apaixona. Mas ela não parou por aí, e fez três programas de intercâmbio nestes últimos anos do curso, um na Estónia e os últimos dois na California (uma verdadeira cosmopolita!)

Ela é também uma grande fotógrafa, e tudo o que ela sabe de fotografia aprendeu sozinha ao longo dos anos, assim que tem muito mérito.

Nos últimos dois anos que passou na California o nosso grupo teve muitas saudades dela e ficámos para lá de felizes quando soubemos que ela nos vinha visitar uns dias em Aveiro! Foram uns dias excelentes, o nosso grupo esteve quase todo reunido (com uma grande falta da nossa Inês!) e foi mesmo bom estar com ela depois de dois longos anos de Skype e infinitas mensagens! :)

Nestes dias, a Betty fotografou alguns momentos e tenho andado a preparar este post especial para partilhar com vocês algumas dessas fotos e também mais algumas fotos que ela foi tirando ao longo dos anos e que eu adoro. Guardei este post para ser publicado hoje já que ontem foi um dia muito importante para ela, fez a sua última apresentação da tese e hoje é oficialmente licenciada! Após cinco anos muito longos e duros, de viver em 3 países diferentes, depois de tantas aventuras e tantas mais fotos para as eternizar, a Beatriz finalizou ontem esta grande jornada, e é um enorme orgulho ter estado presente em cada passo do caminho, e agora só me resta desejar-lhe toda a sorte para a próxima etapa! You can do it, Betty!

Para finalizar, quero também felicitar a minha grande amiga Beatriz Ferreira, outra grande amiga minha, que acabou ontem a sua tese de mestrado e que trabalhou arduamente cada dia neste projecto e merece todas as felicitações! Bi, também te desejo toda a sorte do mundo nesta próxima etapa, eu sei que estás destinada a coisas muito importantes e que as vais conseguir! ;)

White dots all over

Hi everyone!
Starting off the week with a new look, it's a little too summery for today's grey day, because it was taken last week were there was still a bit of sunshine left.
This weekend I started to change my closet for the next season, putting away summer clothes and bringing the winter and autumn pieces. I don't know if I'm the only one but after months of not seeing these pieces I completly forget want I own and when I take them out is like I have new clothes! :p Could I be the only one?
That day I went with my boyfriend to his college dinner, a portuguese tradition, and since I'm studying abroad I was curious about what it was like.
It was really fun but at the same time felt kind of old looking at the new freshmen, acting so young and foolish, but I guess that's a part of growing, right? :)

Olá a todos!
Começamos a semana com mais look, um pouco veranesco ainda, mas foi tirado na semana passada, num dia em que fez calor e aproveitei para usar sandálias uma última vez.
Já comecei a arrumar a roupa de verão, com grande tristeza, e a retirar a roupa de Inverno nas caixas. Não sei se vos acontece o mesmo, mas depois de meses sem ver essas roupas, há peças que tinha esquecido que tinha e é quase como ter peças novas outra vez! :p Serei a única?
Neste dia acompanhei o meu namorado a um jantar de curso, como estou a estudar lá fora nunca tinha tido essa experiência, foi um jantar muito divertido, mas senti-me um bocadinho velha de mais em comparação com os caloiros que lá estavam, tão jovens e tão patetas, deslumbrados com tudo... Mas faz parte do crescimento, não é? :)

Beautiful Aveiro

Hello everyone!
Sometimes you live for years and years in the same city, you grow up passing by the same place over and over and never really see it, until one day you do and you find yourself in a all new place you never really saw was there. That was what happened to me a few days ago. I was passing by with my boyfriend, we were going to the cinema when we noticed that the light was just perfect on that spot, a place that I had passed by hundred of times but never had stood there to appreciate it.
We weren't suppose to take photos that day, (but lucky me I'm always carrying my camera because I'm too lazy to organize my bag everyday) I was wearing a simple look, all with pieces that I had already shown you, but there's also beauty in the daily routine of re-wearing the same clothes, so we took a couple of photos because that place at that exact time was too beautiful to be missed.

Às vezes vivemos na mesma cidade durante anos e anos, crescemos a passar nos mesmos sítios vezes sem conta, conhecemos todos os recantos e encantos, mas alguns escapam a nossa atenção, e quando um dia, assim de repente, prendemos a atenção ao passar por um velho sítio, parece que encontrámos algo completamente novo. 
Foi o que me aconteceu há uns dias atrás. Estava a passar pelo Fórum com o meu namorado, estávamos a caminho do cinema quando reparámos num cantinho de jardim onde a luz estava perfeita, quase parecida uma paisagem saída de um quadro. E eu que já tinha passado lá tantas e tantas vezes e nunca tinha realmente reparado naquele cantinho.
Não tínhamos intenção de tirar fotos naquele dia, mas, felizmente para mim, ando sempre com a minha máquina (vantagens de ser uma desarrumada e nunca tirar nada da mala...), eu estava com uma roupa muito normal e já vos tinha mostrado todas as peças, mas também há beleza na nossa roupa do dia-a-dia que vestimos e repetimos, e em conjugar cada peça com outras diferentes. Assim que tirámos algumas fotos, porque simplesmente, naquele momento, aquele sítio era demasiado bonito para ser perdido.

Disney Inspiration: Aurora

Hello everyone!
How are you today?
We continue with the disney inspiration posts, and the second princess I chose was Aurora. For many years I tought Aurora was absolutly stunning, with her long blonde locks and green eyes, and I have always loved her first outfit the most, the one she wears in the woods. She's one of the few princesses to wear black and grey and I think it looks great on her. The look is inspired on that particular outfit and I tried to go kind of a modern-Aurora, I think that she would wear this if she lived in our days, do you agree?
We took this photos last Sunday (along with other photos that will appear soon on the blog and will have a very special guest) and the background turned out to match really great with the theme.
These photos look better than usual because they were taken by my great friend Betty, she's an amazing photographer and does magic with her camera!

Continuamos com a série de inspiração Disney com a segunda princesa, a Aurora. Durante muitos anos achava a Aurora simplesmente perfeita, com aqueles caracóis longo e tão loiros e aqueles olhos verdes tão bonitos, e sempre adorei o primeiro vestido que ela tem, em tons de preto e bege, não é habitual ver uma princesa de preto mas nela fica muito bem. Assim que me inspirei nesse mesmo outifit e tentei levar a sua essência mas num estilo mais moderno. Acho que ela usaria este outfit se vivesse no nosso tempo, concordam?
Tirámos estas fotos no último Domingo (e mais outras fotos de uma pessoa muito especial que aparecerão em breve no blog) e o fundo ficou em perfeita sintonia com o tema.
Estas fotos estão muito melhores que o habitual graças à minha grande amiga Betty, ela é uma excelente fotógrafa e faz magia com a câmera!

Moonlight Sonata

Hi everyone!
You're probably wondering about the title of the post, since the pictures were not shot my the moonlight, but there's a reason to be. So, last weekend I told you I had a birthday party (were a 7 year old girl was made very, very happy by receiving the cutest little cat) and this is what I wore, a simple black&white outfit with a pop of red.
At night, I went out to dinner with my boyfriend, we had pizza ('cause we're so healthy) and when we were returning to the car, we passed by a classical music concert at the Museum. The band was playing in a room covered with glass and we were able to listen and wach the concert from the outside (we didn't wanna go in because there were so little people and we weren't gonna stay long). So we were listening for 3 songs long when they started playing a favorite of ours (not moonlight sonata, but the concept is there :p) and my boyfriend started dancing with me. So we danced outside, in the sidewalk, like there was just the two of us there, and at the end of the song, a member of the band started signaling us to enter, and then all the suddenly, everyone turned their head at us and I was so embarrassed to know that they were watching us dancing, when I thought that no one had noticed!
So there you have, our little moonlight sonata dance that was not that exclusive but was really fun ;)

About the news I was telling you about, today I went really early to the Airport to receive my dearest friend Betty, I hadn't see her in two years and she will be staying with be for a few days. I'm really happy and now writing this post next to her :) Today we we'll have a party with friends in her honor, we all had miss her so, so much!

Devem-se estar a perguntar pelo título do post, uma vez que, como podem ver, as fotos não foram tiradas, nem de perto, à meia-noite, mas há uma razão. Então, no último fim-de-semana tive uma festa de anos de que vos falei (onde uma menina de 7 anos ficou muito feliz por receber um gatinho tão bonito!) e este foi o outfit que usei, simples, black&white com o vermelho em destaque.
À noite, fui jantar fora com o meu namorado, fomos a uma pizzaria (porque somos tão saudáveis) e no final, quando estávamos a voltar para o carro, passámos pelo Museu de Santa Joana, onde estava a decorrer um concerto de musica clássica. A banda estava a tocar numa sala que tem uma enorme parede de vidro ao fundo e então ficámos a assistir do lado de fora (não queríamos entrar porque infelizmente havia tão poucas pessoas a assistir e nós não íamos demorar). Então, já tínhamos ouvido três musicas quando começou a tocar uma favorita nossa (não a Moonlight Sonata mas o conceito está lá) e o meu namorado começou a dançar comigo. E demos por nós a dançar e a rodopiar pelo passeio, como se fossemos os únicos ali; ao final da música, um dos membros da banda começou a chamar-nos para entrar, e então todas as cabeças se vivaram na nossa direcção e aí nos demos conta que não estávamos assim tão despercebidos e que as pessoas nos tinham visto dançar! Foi um bocado embaraçoso no momento, mas acabou por ser uma situação engraçada e uma pequenina história para vos contar.
Uma boa coisa do blog, que me tenho vindo a aperceber, é que me vou esquecendo de coisas que acontecem no meu dia-a-dia, e estas pequenas histórias e detalhes que vos conto e que ficam aqui marcados, são tão bons de voltar a reler e relembrar :)

Quanto às notícias de que vos tinha falado, hoje fui muito cedo ao Aeroporto para receber uma grande, grande amiga, a minha Betty, quem eu já não via há dois anos, e que vai ficar comigo nos próximos dias.
Agora estou a escrever o post aqui ao lado dela e é como se voltássemos atrás no tempo :) Hoje à noite vamos ter uma festa com amigos em honra dela, já estavamos todos com muitas saudades! :)

Disney Inspiration: Cinderella

"A dream is a wish your heart makes", Cinderella


Hi everyone!
Let's face it, we all just adore Disney, am I right? We grown up watching these wonderful movies, we would watch them on tape, over and over, we know all the songs, all the characters, and every girl, deep down, wants to be a disney princess, and in a way, we all kind of are! :)
From time to time I like to re-watch some disney movies and this Summer I had a marathon with my sister and watched every one, and I entered this disney-mode so strongly, that I decided to create looks based on the princesses.
I will try to do them all, or all that I can do, in the next months. I hope you like the idea! :)
So, I decided to start this series with one of the most classical princesses, Cinderella. Cinderella is a hard working girl, she's persistent, kind and a dreamer. By recreating her I wanted to show you the real essence of her, with the gown, not the maiden-uniform. Her dress is so magical, it's soft blue, puffy, shinny, and unique. I adapted it to a day-to-day look by matching a soft blue crop-top with a soft-pink tule skirt for the puffy look. My shoes aren't made from glass, but a silver shinny sandals, which is pretty much the same (let's pretend it is :p). I wore my hair up, and embellished it with a silver headband and pearl earrings, I thought the headband was really modern-Cinderella.
For the finishing touch I included a pocket watch for the photos, just to make sure I arrive home before the midnight ;)
I wore this look yesterday, it was a really hot day around here, and I think nobody looked at me funny. I tried to make the look very day-to-day without loosing the princess sparkle.
I'm already thinking about the next disney look! ;)

Todos nós adoramos a Disney, certo? Crescemos com estes filmes maravilhosos, víamo-los em cassetes quando eramos criança vezes sem conta até a fita se estragar, e ainda agora sabemos as canções, as personagens, e todas as raparigas, lá no fundo, gostariam de ser uma princesa da Disney, e de alguma forma, todas somos :) 
De vez em quando revejo os filmes, e este Verão fiz uma maratona da Disney com a minha irmã e entrei neste modo Disney, tanto até, que decidi criar alguns looks baseados nas princesas. 
Vou tentar fazer todas, ou todas as que conseguir, ao longo dos próximos meses. Espero que gostem da ideia! :) 
Para começar esta série de post decidi inspirar-me numa princesa clássica, a Cinderella. A Cinderella é uma rapariga trabalhadora, persitente bondosa e sonhadora. Ao recriá-la queria mostrar a verdadeira essência dela, como princesa, e não como criada da casa da madrasta no início do filme, por isso inspirei-me no vestido azul que lhe é oferecido pela fada-madrinha. É um vestido mágico, brilhante e com muita presença. Adaptei-o para um look do dia-a-dia com um top azul já muito antigo que tenho, e uma saia de tule rosa pálido, para lhe dar um toque mais principesco. Os sapatos não são de cristal, mas são sandálias prateadas com brilhantes, o que é bastante parecido (vamos fingir que sim, ok? :p). Apanhei o cabelo, e adornei-o com uma fita prateada e uns brincos, que achei bastante cinderella-pós-moderna. 
E para o toque final para as fotos, decidi incluir um relógio de bolso antigo de família, só para controlar as doze badaladas ;)
Usei este look ontem, estava um dia quente por aqui, e acho que ninguém me olhou de forma estranha :p já que tentei fazer um look de inspiração mas que também fosse usável! :)
Já estou a pensar no próximo look de princesa! ;)
